Colour, clarity, and carat are set by nature. Cut is the maker's contribution — the geometry of facets that decides how light enters a stone, bounces within it, and returns to the eye as fire.
A well-cut diamond of modest specs will outshine a poorly cut one of higher grade. It's why we treat cut as the first decision, not the last.
